This Exam is conducted over 2 days and occurs prior to the start of the classroom sessions. Course registration is required.
Day 1- The written portion of the examination consists of 9 individual tests covering Divisions 1,2,3,4,5, a current AHA ACLS exam, a current AHA PALS exam, a medication calculation test, and an ECG interpretation test. To download a set of study questions for Divisions 1-5, click here.
Day 2- The practical skills portion of the examination will cover all the stations contained in a New York State and National Registry Practical Skills Exam. Candidates will have 1 attempt at each station. For a link to the NREMT website containing printable versions of the skills exam evaluation sheets, click here.
Anyone obtaining a grade of 90% or better on any section of the written exam will be excused from the classroom session covering that topic.
Similarly, students will be excused from classes pertaining to the practical skills they passed on Day 2 of the challenge exam.

The challenge examination is difficult!! It is HIGHLY recommended that candidates study and prepare in advance. Current editions of the ACLS Provider Manual, PALS Provider Manual and Essentials of Paramedic Care will be extremely useful, if not absolutely necessary for this. All these are available in the bookstore at WCC. It is also highly recommended that you become familiar with the practical skills evaluation sheets available on the NREMT website prior to the practical skills portion of the challenge exam.
